South Australia will go into lockdown for seven days from 6pm tonight after recording two new cases of COVID-19 in the community.
The South Australian Premier Steven Marshall says the measures are necessary because the outbreak has been confirmed as the highly-transmissible Delta strain.
What does lockdown mean?
From 6pm on Tuesday 20 July there will be just five reasons why South Australians can leave their home:
- Care and compassionate reasons.
- Essential work.
- Purchase of essential goods, such as food.
- For medical reasons, including vaccination and testing.
- To exercise, but only with people from the same household, for a maximum of 90 minutes a day and within 2.5km of your home.
What this means for village life
We’ve been here before and know what to do. We’ll get through this together by looking out for one another and protecting ourselves and our loved ones from the virus.
RetireAustralia is implementing the following measures:
- Community centres and common facilities are closed.
- All village outings and activities are paused.
- Village checkpoints are being put in place.
- Only essential visits will be accepted:
- To deliver personal care, medication, food and groceries.
- For compassionate reasons.
- Essential visitors will be required to wear masks in our villages.
- Property inspections and refurbishments have been paused.
- Only essential maintenance will take place.
- Staff will wear appropriate PPE when providing care to residents and when physical distancing cannot be maintained.
- The COVID-19 noticeboard will be updated once a day, in the morning, with new exposure sites.
What does this mean for residents?
- Only leave your home if you really need to.
- Ask friends and family if they can drop off supplies for you.
- Contact your local pharmacy to arrange medication deliveries.
- Practise physical distancing – stay 1.5 metres away from anyone who is not in your immediate household.
- Wear a mask when you leave home and ensure you always carry a mask with you.
- Care Apartment residents’ meals will continue to be served in the dining room.
- Independent Living residents who usually have meals in the dining room, these will be delivered to their home.
- Personal care and medication support will continue to be provided to residents who receive services from RetireAustralia Home Care.
