You will have heard the Federal Government announce, last Friday, a three-step plan to gradually ease COVID-19 restrictions.
Each state and territory is responsible for determining their own timeframe for graduating between these steps and what specific restrictions they will lift. This is because states and territories are at different stages of pandemic response with some recording multiple days with no cases and others still experiencing clusters of COVID-19 cases.
We are busy working on what this means for our communities, and taking into account both the Federal Government’s and each State Government’s guidelines. On Wednesday 13 May, we are meeting with the Chairs of the Resident Committees to discuss what a plan for easing restrictions should look like in each of our communities. By the end of the week, we will update you on this.
Like you, we are eager for some sense of normality to resume, but we must be cautious. Some of our residents are amongst the most vulnerable to COVID-19 and we want to ensure they continue to be protected. We need to find a sensible balance between the easing of restrictions and the Federal Government’s ongoing advice for older Australians and those with health conditions to stay at home.
For now, all of the existing restrictions remain in place in our villages and all services and supports for all residents that we have in place will continue. We will update you on a plan for easing restrictions in each village once we have met with the Committee Chairs and discussed a sensible way forward.
Mental wellbeing
Another reminder, that your mental wellbeing is just as important as your physical wellbeing during this time. If you are feeling anxious or lonely, your village team is just a phone call away if you need anything.
Independent living residents – if you would like a daily wellness check-in phone call, please let your Village Manager know.
How to keep in touch
