RetireAustralia Coronavirus update: 30 June 2020

Published: 30 June 2020

We hope you are staying safe and healthy and starting to enjoy the small but steady steps being made towards a ‘new normal’ in our villages.

Village-by-village approach for activities

Each RetireAustralia village now has Easing of Restrictions Plans for accessing communal facilities and participating in social and sporting activities.

These are individually tailored to take into account state government guidance, how the buildings are laid out and how activities can be safely opened up for residents’ enjoyment while still maintaining social distancing and ensuring there is adequate cleaning between uses.

We will continue to adjust these safety measures in partnership with our Resident Committees and in line with government guidance on COVID-19.

Resident access only please

Please note that while restrictions are gradually easing in your village, access to communal facilities and activities continues to be for residents only.

This is a key factor in reducing the risk of COVID-19 spreading amongst residents.

Visiting residents

In line with recent government announcements, we are no longer recommending that children under 16 do not visit residents in care apartments.

For care apartment residents, this means:

Families are welcome to visit care apartment residents with the following safety measures in place:

  • Up to 2 visitors at a time with social distancing.
  • In your home only, visitors are not to access communal areas please.
  • Visiting hours, Monday to Friday, during village office hours
If you are unable to visit during these hours, please call the Village Manager and we’ll work together to make alternative arrangements.
  • Visitors are required to sign in, have their temperature taken and sign a health declaration.

For independent living residents, this means:

Families are welcome to visit residents with the following safety measures in place:
  • Up to 5 visitors at a time with social distancing.
  • In your home only, visitors are not to access communal areas please.

We know it is hard, but COVID-19 is still around, so please continue to be cautious and stay safe.
