RetireAustralia COVID-19 Update: Drayton Villas and Carlyle Gardens

To halt the spread of the highly contagious UK strain of COVID-19, the greater Brisbane region (including the City of Brisbane, City of Ipswich, Logan City, Moreton Bay region and Redland City) will be locked down from 5pm Monday 29 March until 5pm Thursday 1 April.

Importantly, the Qld Government has stipulated that anyone who has been in Greater Brisbane on or since 20 March will be subject to the same lockdown restrictions.

This means that from 5pm Monday 29 March until 5pm Thursday 1 April they should only leave their home for the following reasons:

  • Essential education and work, although work from home where possible
  • Health care or support of a vulnerable person
  • Essential shopping but within your local area
  • Exercise in your neighbourhood (local area)

Additionally, the Qld Government has mandated mask wearing for all of Queensland as follows:

  • You must carry a mask with you at all times when you leave your home
  • You must wear a mask in all public indoor spaces, such as:
    • Shopping centres, retail outlets and indoor markets
    • Hospitals and aged care facilities
    • Libraries
    • Places of worship
    • Indoor workplaces (where you cannot physically distance)
    • Indoor recreational facilities and gyms (except if doing strenuous exercise*)
    • Hospitality venues (except while seated)
    • Public transport, taxis, including waiting areas and queues
    • Airports and planes
  • It is strongly recommended people wear a mask when outdoors if you cannot physically distance.

What does this mean for residents at Drayton Villas and Carlyle Gardens?

It is important that we all do the right thing and work together to keep yourself, neighbours and loved ones safe.

If you have been to Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, the Redlands or the Moreton Bay region on or since 20 March, please let your Village Manager know and only leave your home if it is essential.

We kindly request that residents and visitors wear masks in the community centre if you cannot physically distance.

We are here to help

If you have any questions or concerns, or need any help, please call your Village Manager.

We are monitoring this closely and will provide another update on Thursday 1 April, as the Queensland government reassesses the situation.

Take care and stay safe.
