RetireAustralia COVID-19 Update: Greater Brisbane three-day lockdown

To halt the spread of the highly contagious UK strain of COVID-19, Greater Brisbane (Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Logan, Redlands and Ipswich) will go into lockdown from 5pm Monday 29 March until 5pm Thursday 1 April.

The lockdown will include similar restrictions to those imposed in January with people only permitted to leave their home for the following reasons:

  • Essential education and work, although work from home where possible
  • Health care or support of a vulnerable person
  • Essential shopping but within your local area
  • Exercise in your neighbourhood (local area)

Masks will need to be worn everywhere in Greater Brisbane, except if people are at home.

What does this mean for our communities?

Over the next three days it is important that we all do the right thing and work together to keep yourself, neighbours and loved ones safe.

RetireAustralia will be implementing the following precautionary measures:

  • The community centre and common facilities will be closed and all activities cancelled.
  • Village checkpoints are being established and only essential visits to deliver health care or support will be accepted into the village.
  • Property inspections have been postponed.
  • Essential maintenance and refurbishments will continue with COVIDSafe protocols in place.
  • All employees and essential workers will be required to wear masks at all times.

What does this mean for residents?

  • Please only leave your home if it is absolutely necessary.
  • If you leave your home, wear a mask and practise social distancing.
  • If you do have any essential visitors, please request that they follow the signage within your village and sign-in before coming to your villa.
  • Keep your visitor log up-to-date.
  • If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 get tested and let your Village Manager know.

We are here to help

If you have any questions or concerns, or need any help, please call your Village Manager directly.

In particular, if you are unclear of the restrictions or need help accessing groceries, medication, your GP or masks, please call your Village Manager.

We are monitoring this closely and will provide another update on Thursday 1 April, as the Queensland government reassesses the situation.

Take care and stay safe.
