Now in its 68th year, the festival draws people from all over the region to enjoy gardens, floral displays and the local culture.

Village Manager Scott Burton said residents had joined forces to put together their superb entry in the retirement/lifestyle category.

“The residents came together to plan everything and plant a wide range of flowers that look fantastic,” Scott said.

“People coming into the village have commented on how great they look.”

Residents Beryl Berry and Alan Mallet worked closely with village gardener Mark Burraston on the project.

“We love our village and take pride in the gorgeous gardens here,” Beryl said.

“Toowoomba is known as The Garden City, and working together to make the gardens beautiful is very important to us.”

Drayton Villas is open to the wider community to come along and view the gardens in the daytime, with appointments and walk-ins welcome.

“Now is the perfect time to check out the gardens when everything is blooming,” Scott said.

The Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers concludes on Sunday 24th September.
