Residents of Murray Gardens are making preparations to mark Anzac Day with a traditional wreath-laying and flag-raising service.
Around 120 residents, friends and family members are expected to attend the event held in the village community centre at 11am.
An army warrant officer will make the keynote speech and resident Peter Ferry, a former World War II Lancaster bomber pilot, will recite the traditional ode.
Resident Ron Russell, a key organiser of the service, said the event is an important one on the village calendar.
“We lower the flag, lay wreaths, raise the flag and have the last post and a minute’s silence,” he said.
“Following the service, we’ll have an hour of social group and a barbeque.”
Murray Gardens village manager Chiquita Walsh said the event is always well-attended.
“Residents put a lot of work into the event, and everyone who is able to attends,” she said.
The East Albury village has held Anzac Day and Remembrance Day commemorations for over ten years.
“Two years ago, we had an American marine say a few words,” Ron said.
“It’s an important day and we’re hoping the weather is good!”
