A highlight of the annual Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, the competition sees thousands of passionate gardeners transform their gardens into stunning showpieces and draws visitors from near and far.

Around 3000 seedlings were planted in the village grounds by the residents’ gardens club, led by Alan Mallet and others.

Village Manager Scott Burton said the award was well-deserved.

“A group of residents put a lot of work into the gardens, so it’s great their efforts have been recognised,” he said.

“Everyone’s delighted with the award.”

The competition is in its 69th year and offers prizes in a range of categories.

Drayton Villas’ gardens are set in a quiet, leafy area beside the village’s popular ‘Homestead’ community centre and iconic Southern Cross windmill.

Members of the public can take a tour of the gardens and available properties from Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm and weekends by appointment.
