Now in its 12th year, the event included a bric-à-brac stall, raffle, morning tea, games, Christmas carols, dance party, cake stall, toy auction and a visit from Santa.

Around 300 residents, friends and family members attended.

Village Manager Lucy Mulvany said the event brought out the best in people at the Hope Valley community.

“It was wonderful that the staff and residents all had so much fun together,” she said.

“Having families and kids there made it even more special.”

Tea Tree Gardens holds a fundraiser at a different time each year, with this year’s event chosen to be a Christmas affair.

The village also raised over $1000 throughout the year by selling chocolates.

The Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation raises funds for the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide, and has provided more than $30 million to the hospital in the past ten years.

Lucy said the event created a fantastic environment within the village community centre.

“One of our residents pulled me aside as we were clearing up and told me that it was a day that felt like the spirit of Christmas,” she said.
