Tea Tree Gardens raises $2500 for Flying Doctors

Tea Tree Gardens Retirement Village raised $2500 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia at a fun-filled village event last week.

Residents and staff dressed up in the RFDS colours, played games, and enjoyed a morning tea while raising the impressive sum to mark the 90th anniversary of the not-for-profit organisation.

Village Manager Lucy Mulvany said she was delighted about the outcome.

“It was a great day, and everyone was very generous for a fantastic cause,” she said.

“The paper plane throwing competition was especially fun!”

The Royal Flying Doctor Service is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world.

It provides health care and emergency services to people over an area of 7.69 million square kilometres, and its fleet of 69 aircraft flew over 26 million kilometres last year – the equivalent of 34 trips to the moon and back.

The Tea Tree Gardens community holds regular fundraising events for local and national causes.

A December event raised over $5000 for the Women & Children’s Hospital Foundation in Adelaide.
