Original village residents Tony and Heather Ryan officially opened Newling Gardens Retirement Village’s brand new community centre at a VIP ceremony on Friday 26th May.

The expanded, fully-refurbished community centre now includes a revamped pool, games area, commercial kitchen, new fireplace, enhanced beauty salon, formal dining areas, and a library.

The Ryans were the first residents at Newling Gardens, having moved into the village in 2009.

“There is a feeling of celebration in the village, and I was delighted to be asked to be involved in the VIP opening,” Tony said.

Village Manager Sharron Chappell said the Ryans were the perfect choice to cut the ribbon at the celebration.

“Heather was the first person to ever swim in the original pool, so it’s only fitting she was part of celebrating its re-opening!” Sharron said.

Attendees at the VIP opening included RetireAustralia CEO Alison Quinn, Village Manager Sharon Chappell, industry partners, residents, and invited guests.

Newling Gardens is one of Armidale’s most well-known and sought-after retirement living options, offering relaxed and socially-focussed lifestyles.

“It’s a close-knit community, it’s well run, and there are never any problems here,” Tony said.
