Retirees raise money for MND

Tea Tree Gardens Retirement Village was a sea of blue on 18 November as staff and residents teamed up to support Motor Neurone Disease South Australia at a themed fundraising event.

Village Manager Lucy Mulvany said that the guests embraced the colour theme wholeheartedly, dressing in blue clothes, eating blue doughnuts and spurring each other on in an ice bucket challenge.

“With temperatures soaring in the high 30s, the team was only too happy to be dunked with ice!” Lucy said.

The event raised over $3,400 through donations and raffle tickets, all of which will be donated to Motor Neurone Disease South Australia.

“Thank you to RetireAustralia, all of our fantastic staff and their families, our contractors and most of all our generous residents in helping us to achieve this fantastic result!” Lucy said.

The function was the latest in a series of annual charity events held at the village and spearheaded by the village’s Maintenance Supervisor, Claudio del Fabbro.

Each year’s event supports a different cause and is always highly anticipated by residents, staff and members of the local community alike.
