An intergenerational, fun time was had by all when pupils of Lavington East Primary School visited residents at Murray Gardens Retirement Village for a story-telling session last week.
Over 30 year one children visited the East Albury village, where they enjoyed swapping tales and proving that age is no barrier to having a good time.
Residents discussed their favourite childhood toys and presented genuine antiques in the form of an old scooter and tricycle.
Other activities included paper plane-making, drawing and singing.
Murray Gardens village manager Chiquita Walsh said both residents and pupils greatly enjoyed the visit.
“It was so wonderful to hear the kids and residents enjoying each other’s company, discussing their toys, and sharing ‘toy stories’,” she said.
“It was a lovely community session.”
Studies show that increased social connection is vital to feeling happy, secure, supported and purposeful – for people of all ages.
