The Taylor Street community is inviting members of the public to attend an exclusive launch party to view the exhibits on Friday 26th October from 5pm to 7pm.

The exhibition of original creative works, including paintings, sculpture, literature, tapestry, patchwork, woodwork and more, will be on show in the village’s community centre until Tuesday 30th October.

Around 20 residents will have items on exhibition or for sale, including well-known local author, Geoff Quaife, and talented woodworker, David Donald.

Newling Gardens resident and accomplished painter, Heather Winch, said the village is full of creatives.

“We wanted to showcase what people do at retirement villages – we have a lot of talent in this area,” she said.

“Just because you go to a retirement village doesn’t mean you put your slippers on and do nothing.”

The launch party will kick off with a champagne reception, with hors d’oeuvres, cake, tea and coffee also on offer.

A portion of profits will be invested back into the village, Heather said.

“We are hoping that maybe ten per cent of the sales will go towards a defibrillator or something like that,” she said.

Everyone is welcome to attend Newling Gardens’ creative showcase launch on Friday 26th October from 5pm to 7pm, and to visit the exhibition until 4pm on Tuesday 30th October at 173 Taylor Street, Armidale.
