Everyone is welcome to attend the event, enjoy a free sausage sizzle, take part in the monster raffle, and help support everyday Australians.

Following the announcement of the National Farmers’ Federation, the Nine Network and Rotary founding their 2018 Drought Relief Fund, Newling Gardens residents decided to act.

Brian Bremner, chairman of the village’s social committee, said many residents’ rural backgrounds mean the issue is close to their hearts.

“It is absolutely desperate here – there are a lot of farms going to the wall,” he said.

“Farmers are not only losing their stock hand over fist but are finding it hard to even feed themselves.

“People are getting well behind the fundraiser and there should be a big attendance.”

Rotary International will match all donations up to $15,000 and RetireAustralia will also donate $1000 to the appeal.

Additionally, many local businesses are financially backing the event.

With 99% of the state now drought-affected and no end in sight, rural families are doing it tougher than ever.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian described the last few months as “unforgivably dry” while announcing an additional $500 million in emergency funding for drought-stricken areas.

Newling Gardens is keen to welcome as many people as possible at the fundraising event, with members of the public welcome to attend.
