Jaegar Road originals find friendship and fun

When Janne Cooley, Christine Benham and Anne Hooley became the first residents at Glengara’s new development one year ago, they were three separate personalities with completely different backgrounds.

Twelve months later, the self-confessed best mates are celebrating a year of friendship with champagne and an upcoming holiday.

“Chris’s villa is adjoining mine, and Anne’s is a couple of doors down,” Janne said.

“We just really clicked with each other and we know we’ll be friends for life.”

Events and activities are plentiful at Glengara, making it easy for residents to connect and make friends – Janne, Christine and Anne are testament to this.

“We love the community night every Friday and we always go to the various functions that are on – whether it’s Christmas in July, Oktoberfest or whatever it is,” Janne said.

“If there’s something new we are interested in, we’ll certainly join in and do it.”

Janne moved from the local area after seeing the new complex at Glengara being built, and said it was the obvious choice to make.

“Having been looked after all my life by a husband and then finding myself on my own, the sense of security I get from living at the village is wonderful,” she said.

“I’ve been treated with nothing but respect since the day I met all the staff.”

Janne said the ladies are planning a weekend away in November and three weeks in Tasmania next year, along with many other activities and events in the mean time.

“We’ve been blessed with the wonderful opportunity of living here and we’re embracing it!”
