The friendly and laidback village is situated just metres from the beach and offers a fantastic range of independent living villas laid out in quiet streets just like a suburban community.

Heather and Don Shepherd settled on Carlyle Gardens three years ago after looking around Australia for a suitable retirement village.

“We went up and down the coast, and when we came in here we thought it was just perfect – the pick of the lot,” Heather said.

“I like the beach, and I love this area and its wonderful climate.

“Everything we want for retirement is here.”

Janice Woodhams made the transition to retirement at Carlyle Gardens almost 20 years ago and loves the easy access to golden beaches and many other benefits.

“We loved it because, firstly, it was near the ocean,” she said.

“I also find that living at the village means I’m so much better off as there’s plenty to do and everybody is so friendly.

“When you’re new, everybody talks to you, and security is a big thing, too – everybody looks out for each other.”

Les Mills moved to the village three years ago and is making the most of the subtropical climate, helping to establish a flourishing community garden in the village.
