Murray Gardens managers win top award

Murray Gardens Retirement Village co-managers Chiquita Walsh and Anne Jack have won the NSW Village Manager of the Year award at the regional leg of the prestigious Retirement Living Awards in Sydney.

The awards, presented by the Retirement Living Council, recognise high achievement across the entire breadth of the industry.

Anne and Chiquita, who are also cousins, have been hugely popular figures at the Albury village since taking on the joint role in 2012.

“We were just absolutely delighted to have been nominated for the NSW Village Manager of the Year,” Anne said.

“Now to have won is the icing on the cake – we’re so delighted.”

A dedication to improving and expanding services, and providing an ever-increasing level of service to residents at Murray Gardens has drawn the pair widespread praise.

“You always come to work asking yourself what you can make better that day,” Chiquita said.

“We want to be the best for our residents – we want to be the benchmark.”

The Village Manager of the Year Award was established in the 1990s, with further categories added across the retirement sector in recent years.

Five regional Manager of the Year winners will then all go into the running for the National Village Manager of the Year Award 2017, to be announced at a gala event on 27th November.
