RetireAustralia’s community events in three states raised over $3,000 for R U OK? Day in September.

A total of seventeen retirement villages in Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia held morning or afternoon teas, most including guest speakers and activities.

Residents and members of the wider community were invited to come together and talk, with the aim of fostering meaningful conversations about life’s ups and downs.

Hundreds of residents and members of the public attended nationally, and the reaction was overwhelmingly positive.

RetireAustralia CEO Alison Quinn said community events of this nature are a great opportunity to boost the wellbeing of residents and the wider community while raising money for a great cause.

“Our communities offer residents plenty of support, and are a place to connect socially and create meaningful relationships,” Alison said.

“We are delighted to have brought people together, while raising money for such an important cause.”

Held annually since its foundation in 2009, R U OK? Day is a national day of action dedicated to connecting with others with one simple but potentially life-changing question.
