Colourful twiddlemuffs to keep hands busy

The Forresters Beach Retirement Village craft group enjoy meeting up for a chat and to create a range of items including clothing and blankets for coastal shelters.

Craft group member Jenny Pullen, recently stumbled across a new idea called twiddlemuffs: tubes of soft multi-textured wool that are decorated with buttons, flowers, pompoms, ribbons and zippers.
The craft group have knitted over 50 twiddlemuffs which are proving popular with dementia patients and autistic children because the twiddlemuffs help to keep hands busy and calm agitation.
“The staff at the Nareen Gardens and Reynolds Court nursing homes were so thrilled when we delivered the twiddlemuffs that all of the staff came out to have a look,” group member Noelene Hudson said.
“They were so delighted with the twiddlemuffs that they have offered to send us supplies and materials.”
The beautiful twiddlemuffs are also ideal for keeping your hands warm in winter and are available at the Forresters Beach Lakehouse Café.
