Melodies ring out across Tea Tree Gardens
A group of resident musicians at Tea Tree Gardens Retirement Village meet weekly in the community centre to practise their repertoire and prepare for their quarterly music concert.
The group features an eclectic mix of musical instruments including keyboards, piano, organ, saxophone, trombone and drums with five ladies and three gentlemen singing harmonies.
Flautist Basil Wells said the concerts generally attract about 150 people, including family and friends, who enjoy singing along to favourite tunes.
“Our next concert will have an Australian theme and we’ll play a few songs from yesteryear including Waltzing Matilda, Road To Gundagai and the Pub With No Beer,” Basil said.
“It’s a social get-together and sometimes we also have karaoke. The lyrics are familiar so that everyone has a chance to sing.”
The next musical concert will be held at 2pm on 26th March. Afternoon tea will be provided and everyone with a love of music is welcome.
