Residents raise hundreds for the Heart Foundation
Murray Gardens residents raised $520 for the Heart Foundation with a fundraising afternoon tea last week.
Residents, family and friends attended the get-together at the village’s community centre, where they shared cupcakes and donated generously to the national charity.
Murray Gardens Co-Village Manager Chiq Walsh said the fundraising efforts were typical of the charitable residents at the village.
“Staff and residents worked together wonderfully to put on the event, and we are very proud of their fantastic efforts,” Chiq said.
“They are such a generous group.”
In June, Murray Gardens residents raised $2300 for the Albury-Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre, and recently participated in a fundraising event for R U OK? Day.
Resident Peter Ainsworth is a huge champion for the Heart Foundation, having been collecting for the charity for over three years.
“What they can do with medical equipment these days is incredible, and a lot of it is achieved by people giving money,” Peter said.
The Heart Foundation’s Big Heart Appeal ran through September, with fundraisers across the country collecting for lifesaving heart research, education and ongoing support.
