Changes to COVID-19 restrictions for South East Queensland

From 4pm Sunday 8 August, the 11 Local Government Areas in South East Queensland Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, Moreton, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Lockyer valley, Somerset and the Scenic Rim will come out of lockdown.

Some restrictions will continue to apply for the next two weeks, including:

  • Mask wearing at all times (including workplaces) except when eating or drinking, or exercising with your household or one other person.
  • Schools will reopen, with all staff and high school students wearing masks
  • 10 people in your home, including people who live there
  • 20 at weddings and funerals
  • Businesses and venues with one person per four square metres, or 50 percent capacity with seated, ticket allocations
  • Community sport not permitted
  • Avoid travelling to regional Queensland
  • Visitors allowed to hospitals, aged care and disability accommodation.

What these changes mean for our Brisbane and Gold Coast Retirement Villages

  • Community centres and village amenities will re-open for residents and activity leaders..
  • Small group social and sporting activities will re-start for residents only and based on a village by village approach. Your village team will share further details with you.
  • Visitors to the village are welcome and are requested to wear a mask, sign-in and provide details of their health status.
  • Staff and contractors will wear masks when in the village and residents should do so when the leave their units.
  • On site sales appointments re-start by appointment only and with COVIDsafe protocols in place.

What you can do to protect yourself and your loved ones

We strongly recommend that you:

  • Limit your movement outside the village as much as possible.
  • Wear a mask when your leave your home.
  • Check-in wherever you go and keep your visitor logs up-to-date. This helps with contact tracing.
  • Continue to screen your visitors and keep up-to-date with contact tracing alerts. Village noticeboards are updated with this information daily.
  • If you have visited any COVID-19 exposure sites, or have any symptoms of COVID-19 you must get tested, isolate and let your Village Manager know.
  • If you haven’t already received the COVID-19 vaccine, it is now more important than ever to do so. To find out about getting the vaccine please speak to your GP or visit: health.gov.au.
