This month, RetireAustralia’s Carlyle Gardens Retirement Village welcomed a new Village Manager, Phill Sellwood.
Phill is a familiar face in Bargara after relocating from Brisbane in 2007 and previously holding prominent positions in the community, including his most recent role as Chief Executive Officer at the YMCA of Bundaberg.
Phill said that he is looking forward to getting to know the village residents and being a part of the team that has maintained and grown the village over the years.
“The Carlyle Gardens team have done an exceptional job looking after the village and I’m privileged to step into such a well looked after community.”
Home to over 400 residents, Carlyle Gardens is one of Bargara’s most popular retirement living options and for Phill, it’s not difficult to see why.
“Carlyle Gardens is an established, well maintained village just a block from the ocean and it really has a feeling of being cared for and respected by both the residents and the owners,” Phill said.
“The community itself has also got a sense of warmth and friendliness about it.”
“I’m passionate about making a difference through strong community engagement, and working alongside our staff and residents to contribute to our local community was what initially attracted me to this position.”
In his first weeks in the new role, Phill has been getting to know many of the residents and has already started to grow the village’s reputation by hosting welcome events for the residents and the local community.
RetireAustralia’s Chief Operating Officer, Matt Row, said of the new appointment, “Our previous manager, Mandy Julian, was a much-loved part of the village community and has left some big shoes to fill, but Phill has approached the role with great enthusiasm and comes with a wealth of experience, knowledge and ideas.
“The RetireAustralia team is confident that he is the right choice to lead Carlyle Gardens through the coming years.”
