Bowled over by social activities

Social Secretary and Glengara Retirement Village resident Sue Robb said Bay Bowlers are a social group who play friendly, but competitive bowls.

“We enjoy getting together throughout the year for bus trips and an annual 4-day getaway including two days of bowls and many hours of fun!” Sue said.
With 200 social members, the Bay Bowlers are one of the biggest social bowls clubs in Australia.
In 1978 the Central Coast Masonic Club formed a Cencomas Bowling Combination for men only, but in 2000 the club radically transformed when members voted at an AGM to allow women to join and in 2003 the name changed to Bay Bowlers.
In November, RetireAustralia sponsored the annual Bay Bowlers tournament with avid bowlers from Glengara, Forresters Beach and Tarragal Glen travelling to Wyong Bowling Club.
Glengara’s Village Manager, Andrew Glover, said that it was the first time RetireAustralia had been involved.
“RetireAustralia is proud to be a sponsor. Everyone was in great spirits and I’m very pleased that I managed to barbecue without burning the sausages and steaks!” Andrew said.
