The book, entitled Bygone Days, features a total of 38 stories and dozens of pictures contributed by 26 residents of the East Albury village.

It is the sequel to 2012’s Reflections and last year’s Memories, and will be launched by the award-winning author and guest speaker at this year’s Write Around the Murray Festival, Dr. Dianne Wolfer.

Murray Gardens resident Audrey Davidson collated stories for the book.

“There are a lot of people in the village with great stories to tell,” she said.

“Putting it together was also a great way to keep my brain active!”

Stories include that of resident Eda Moss, who faced disaster when the engine in her one-propeller aeroplane failed mid-flight and a beach landing near Taree, New South Wales was called for.

Also recounted are tales of wartime air ambulances, bucket list trips on the Ghan, and the adventures of an outback nurse.

Village Manager Chiq Walsh said the launch is set to be a great occasion.

“The last two books were big successes, and everyone had a great time launching them,” she said.

“We are delighted Dianne Wolfer can help us launch this wonderful collection.”

West Australian Dr. Wolfer is an author of 17 books for children and young adults, including 2018 favourites, Nanna’s Button Tin and The Dog with Seven Names.

Members of the public are invited to attend the book launch and enjoy complimentary snacks at 4:30pm on Wednesday 5th September at 36 Mountford Crescent, East Albury.
