RetireAustralia has purchased 236-246 Queen Street, Cleveland, and has received council approval to develop the site, which is located to the west of the operator’s existing Cleveland Manor Retirement Village.

The previous owners of the site had obtained development approval for a retirement village with 199 one-bedroom rental apartments and had proposed plans for a 96-bed residential aged care facility.

In light of global best practices in retirement living, RetireAustralia has amended the plans to reduce building density and retain the character of the local area whilst providing high-quality seniors housing to enable more local residents to remain within their local community as they age.

Approved plans include 146 independent living apartments and a range of resident amenities across three architecturally designed buildings. In addition, there will be a 10-suite care hub which is a boutique, higher acuity care environment with a nurse-led team on site 24/7. It will also be a high care yet homelike environment for short or long-term stays when more intensive support is required.

As a leading owner, operator and developer of retirement villages with a focus on creating thriving communities for older Australians, RetireAustralia is looking forward to delivering the project which will expand on the existing Cleveland Manor Retirement Village and enable more older Australians to stay within their local community.

Construction timeframes will be confirmed in due course.
