In addition to her recent appointment as chief executive officer of RetireAustralia, Alison Quinn has been elected as the new president of the national Retirement Living Council.
The announcement was made on February 11th 2016 and the role will require Ms Quinn to represent the retirement sector on the Property Council of Australia’s National Board.
The Retirement Living Council plays a crucial role in championing the growth and sustainability of the retirement living industry by advocating for and representing it, researching new trends and opportunities, collecting statistics on existing village communities, hosting professional development events, overseeing village accreditation processes and building the industry’s profile.
“Australia is currently experiencing an unprecedented ageing of its population. Our main aim is to ensure our sector can grow quickly enough to meet the increased need for seniors housing and retirement villages over the next decade and beyond,” Ms Quinn said.
“We are working to achieve the necessary policy changes that allow Australian seniors to be able to access the equity they have in their family home and downsize without financial penalty.”
Ms Quinn has been an active member of the Retirement Living Council since 2013 and is one of Australia’s most senior property executives. She succeeds outgoing president Derek McMillan who has held the title since the Council’s formation in 2013.
