Budding artists raise money for Toowoomba Hospice

When Drayton Villa Retirement Village resident Glenda Tudman joined the art group in 2015, she had no idea how to draw or paint.
Over a short period of time Glenda has learnt to let her imagination run free.
“I thought I would ‘have a go’ and I’ve ended up thoroughly enjoying every minute,” Glenda said.
Local art tutor, Greg Coombs, holds weekly art classes in the Drayton Villas community centre.
The group initially started pencil sketching, but as their confidence increased, they painted landscapes in beautiful acrylics.
“We have a wonderful art group and Greg is very inspiring,” Glenda says.

Residents at Drayton Villa Retirement Village are renown for their fundraising and this art group is no exception.
The group will hold their first exhibition at Drayton Villas on 12th September and will donate all proceeds to Toowoomba Hospice, a local healthcare facility that provides free palliative and respite care for adults with a terminal illness.
“We thought it would be nice to invite the wider community and we are putting on a delicious morning tea for all our guests.” Glenda Tudman
“If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint’, then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.” – Vincent Van Gogh.
