Pets are wonderful companions at all stages of life, and at Tarragal Glen, a resident and painter is celebrating this fact with a range of unique, animal-focused artwork.
Kay Tabor began painting rocks with images of animals when she happened upon a rock shaped like an owl, and decided to give it a try.
Since then, her work has evolved to include many types of animals, and she has set up her own business, Pets on the Rocks.
“I started by doing a few memorial stones for dogs that passed away,” Kay said.
“Since then I’ve done dozens of dogs, and a lot of generic animals.
“I also do necklaces with pictures of animals on them, and I’ve sold them at art galleries, the village fete, and on a freelance basis.”
Kay has completed a number of paintings for residents at Tarragal Glen and sister village Wood Glen.
“I absolutely love doing it, and the best feeling is seeing people react when they see it – it gives me such joy to do it,” she said.
Kay said people hear about her work through word-of-mouth, and send her photos of their animals to paint, as well as providing her with materials.
“I always ask people to give me a good shot of the eyes, which is important,” she said.
“People collect rocks and bring them to me – my bedroom is full of rocks!”
