COVID-19 update – Sydney and Central Coast Villages

Published: 12 July 2021

The spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19 continues in Greater Sydney with 112 locally acquired cases reported in the past 24 hours, 34 of which were out and about in the community whilst infectious.

As an additional safeguard, the Government has introduced more stringent mask use requirements which are detailed below.

New mask use requirements for apartment buildings

From Tuesday 13 July masks will be mandatory in the common areas of residential buildings. We have already taken steps towards this in our villages and are prepared.

To summarise, this means that masks must be worn by everyone accessing the common areas of care apartment and apartment buildings including residents, visitors, staff, contractors and tradespeople.

Common areas includes:

  • the foyer / lobby / reception area
  • lifts, stairwells and corridors
  • shared laundry facilities
  • dining room (when you are not eating or drinking)

Please stay at home

Regrettably some residents and visitors are risking the health and wellbeing of their neighbours and communities by not following the stay at home orders. It is crucial that we all continue following the Government’s requirements to stay at home, limit physical contact with other households and only leave our homes for essential reasons, which are:

  • Shopping for food or other essential goods and services (one person only)
  • Work and education (if it can’t be done from home)
  • Medical, caring or compassionate needs (only one visitor can enter another residence to fulfil carers’ responsibilities or provide care or assistance, or for compassionate reasons)
  • Exercising in groups of no more than 2 (unless members of the same household).

By observing these rules, you are protecting others living in the village community, and helping ensure the lock down doesn’t last any longer than is necessary.

We are here for you

If you have any questions or need help, in particular if you need assistance with organising food, groceries, medication, access to mask or to care or medical services, please call your Village Manager.

We will continue to keep you updated on any changes when they are announced.
