The South Australian government has further eased COVID-19 restrictions, which is good news. Here’s a quick update of what this means for us.

We’ve also put together a simple guide to the new QR Code Check-in system.

Community centres, sporting and social activities:

  • All community centres and facilities will have reopened
  • All sporting and social activities will have resumed.
  • Please book ahead to secure your place for activities, check in and practise social distancing.

  • We recommend residents continue to wear masks when they are in public outside the village.
  • Employees are still required to wear masks in the village.
  • Visitors are requested to wear masks when visiting care apartment residents.

Visitors:

A guide to South Australia’s QR code check-in system

We’ve all been asked to form a lot of new habits in 2020. The latest adaptation in South Australia is a QR code check-in system for businesses and venues.

mySAGOV appQ. What is the QR code check-in system?
A. To support contact tracing, the South Australian Government has mandated that every business with a COVIDSafe plan in South Australia must make their State Government-issued QR code accessible for people to check in.

Q. How do I use the mySA GOV app to check-in?
A. The South Australian Government has updated its mySA GOV SA app, adding a little button at the bottom of the app’s screen that says “COVID-Safe Check-in”.

Here’s how you use the app to check-in?

  1. Download the app (or update it if you had it previously) onto your mobile phone.
  2. Open it up.
  3. Press the “COVID-safe Check-in” button.
  4. Point your camera at the venue’s QR code.
  5. Fill in your first name, last name and phone number.

The first time you use the app, it will send you a verification code to make sure you’ve given your real number. From then on, the app will remember your details and you won’t have to re-enter them every time you check-in.

Please note: You don’t need to create a mySA GOV account or log in to use the ‘COVID-safe Check in’ feature. Just tap on the button at the bottom of the screen to activate the scanning feature.

Q. Do I have to use the app?
A. No, the Camera app on your mobile phone will do the same job. The downside of using this method is that you’ll have to put your details in every time.

Here’s how you use the Camera app:

  1. Open the Camera app.
  2. Hold your mobile phone steadily for 2-3 seconds so that the QR Code appears in the viewfinder in the Camera app.
  3. Tap the pop-up notification at the top of your screen.
  4. Complete your details in the web form and hit submit.

Q. What if I don’t have a phone or don’t want to use my phone?
A. Every business with a COVIDSafe plan in South Australia is mandated to also have a paper system in place for people who don’t carry smartphones. You can use this system to check-in.
