RetireAustralia COVID-19 update: Sydney Northern Beaches cluster

The COVID-19 Avalon (Northern Beaches) cluster has grown to 28 cases.

To assist with contact tracing and containing the spread of COVID-19, NSW Health has asked that for the next three days (up to and including Sunday 20 December):

  • Residents of the Northern Beaches Local Government Area:
    • Work / stay at home.
    • Only leave home if it is absolutely essential. If you do, wear a mask.
    • Do not visit friends or relatives in aged care facilities or hospitals unless it is essential.
    • Avoid unnecessary gatherings.
    • Keep to your household group.
    • Avoid visiting high-risk venues including clubs, restaurants, places of worship and gyms.
    • Avoid unnecessary travel outside the Northern Beaches area.
  • People from outside the Northern Beaches area avoid unnecessary travel to the Northern Beaches.

 

What does this mean for Belrose Country Club?

What has RetireAustralia done to help protect the community?

  • Community centre and common facilities (pool, gym, craft room etc) are closed.
  • Only staff and essential workers are permitted to enter and are required to wear masks.
  • The dining room remains open to care apartment residents for meals.
  • All activities are cancelled until further notice.
  • The bus will operate next Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 10 and 11am to Forest Way and Belrose shops. Please note that numbers limited to six people per trip, booking is essential and residents must wear a mask.
  • Property inspections have been cancelled.
  • Only essential maintenance will take place.
  • Village checkpoints have been put in place. All visitors will be asked to sign-in, answer questions about their health status and have their temperature checked.
  • Only essential visits will be accepted into the village:
    • To deliver personal care, medication, food and groceries.
    • For compassionate reasons.
    • No children under 16.

We will review these restrictions on Monday 21 December and provide another update.

 

What does this mean for residents?

  • Stay at home for the next three days (up to and including Sunday 20 December).
  • Only leave home if it is absolutely necessary. If you do, wear a mask.
  • If you need medication, contact your local pharmacy to arrange delivery.
  • Practice social distancing – stay 1.5 metres away from anyone who is not in your immediate household.
  • Wash your hands often and thoroughly.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes.
  • If you have even the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms, get tested immediately, then isolate until a negative result is received. Testing clinics are located at:
    • Mona Vale Hospital, Gate 3 Coronation Street, Mona Vale – walk-in clinic – open 7.30am-5.30pm seven days a week – staffing increased to assist with testing demand.
    • Brookvale Community Health Centre, 612-624 Pittwater Road, Brookvale – open 8am-6pm 7 days.
    • Northern Beaches Hospital, 105 Frenchs Forest Road (West), Frenchs Forest, (Rear of Emergency Department) – open 8am- 5pm 7 days.
    • Avalon pop-up, Avalon Recreation Centre, 59 Old Barrenjoey Rd, Avalon and will open from midday (8am to 10pm).
    • Newport Pop up, Newport Community Centre, 11-13 The Boulevard, Newport open from 2pm (8am to 10pm).
    • Warringah Aquatic Centre Drive-through, 1 Aquatic Dr, Frenchs Forest NSW 2086 open from 3pm (8am to 10pm).
