RetireAustralia COVID-19 update: Update for Central Coast residents

Published: 18 December 2020

Given that many Central Coast residents are from the Northern Beaches and/ or have family and friends living there, we thought it timely to provide an update on the latest advice from NSW Health.

The COVID-19 Avalon (Northern Beaches) cluster has grown to 28 cases. To assist with contact tracing and containing the spread of COVID-19, NSW Health has asked that for the next three days (up to and including Sunday 20 December):

  • Residents of the Northern Beaches Local Government Area only leave home if it is essential.
  • People from outside the area avoid unnecessary travel to the Northern Beaches.

The Avalon cluster is a timely reminder that until we have a vaccine, we don’t have solution for COVID-19 and we need to continue to be vigilant.

We urge you to follow the NSW Health advice and do not visit the Northern Beaches of Sydney or accept visitors into the village from this area.

Good habits to keep everyone safe

  • Practice social distancing – stay 1.5 metres away from anyone who is not in your immediate household – or wear a mask.
  • Wash your hands often and thoroughly.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes.
  • If you display even the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms, get tested immediately, then isolate until a negative result is received.
