RetireAustralia COVID-19 update: Noyea Riverside precautionary measures

Published: 29 July 2020

We are concerned to hear today’s announcement from the Queensland government that two people, who recently returned from Melbourne, and are now in hospital with COVID-19, have been circulating in the Logan, Springfield Lakes and Acacia Ridge. In response to this several locations have been closed for deep cleaning in the Brisbane Southside and contact tracing is underway.

The situation is evolving and there are currently a lot of unknowns surrounding where these people have been and who they have been in contact with.

We are taking the risk seriously and doing everything we possibly can to ensure Noyea Riverside remains a safe haven for our residents.

In the short term, we strongly recommend that you take the following precautionary measures:

  • Stay at home as much as possible and limit travel and visits to what is essential.
  • Avoid travelling to, and accepting visitors from, Logan, Springfield Lakes and Acacia Ridge.
  • Keep track of your visitors by using the visitor log we recently provided you.
  • If you do have visitors, please ensure they do not access any community areas or facilities.
  • Discourage children under 16 from visiting.
  • Stay away from contractors on site to demolish the property destroyed by fire.
  • Let your family and friends know they should not visit you unless it is essential.
  • If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 please contact your GP for advice.

RetireAustralia is also implementing precautionary measures at Noyea Riverside, as follows:

  • Temporarily closing the community centre and postponing outdoor sporting and social activities.
  • Implementing a checkpoint to screen people entering the village.
  • Postponing sales appointments and any non-essential maintenance.
  • Introducing enhanced screening of contractors who will be on site for necessary maintenance, including the demolition of the property recently destroyed by fire.

We are monitoring this closely and will provide further updates as the situation evolves.

If you have any questions, please contact your Village Manager, Darren Adams on 07 3287 2121.

Stay safe and look after each other.
