RetireAustralia COVID-19 update: Belrose Country Club community update

Published: 20 December 2020

Yesterday, the New South Wales government announced that Sydney Northern Beaches LGA will be locked down for from 5pm on Saturday 19 December until midnight on Wednesday 23 December.

What does the lockdown mean?

The restrictions are the same ones in place in March.

Northern Beaches’ residents can only leave their home for the following reasons:

  • Shopping for food or other essential goods and services.
  • Medical care or compassionate needs.
  • Exercise.
  • Work or education, where you cannot work or learn from home.
  • In an emergency.

People are not permitted to enter the Northern Beaches LGA unless they are dropping off food, medication or other essential goods or services or to fulfil carer’s responsibilities.

Public gatherings are limited to two.

Additionally, the government is strongly recommending people wear masks on public transport and in indoor public settings e.g. the supermarket, church etc.

What does this mean for the Belrose Country Club community?

We acknowledge that these restrictions are incredibly hard. Especially given the time of year and that many of you have plans to spend time with family and friends. However, given the elevated risk it is important that we all do the right thing. We need to work together to keep the Belrose community safe.

RetireAustralia has already implemented precautionary measures:

  • The community centre and common facilities remain closed and all activities are cancelled.
  • Village checkpoints are in place.
  • Only essential visits will be accepted into the village:
    • To deliver personal care, medication, food and groceries.
    • For compassionate reasons.
    • No children under 16.
  •  Property inspections have been cancelled and only essential maintenance will take place.
  • All staff and essential workers are required to wear masks indoors.
  • The village bus will still operate essential grocery shopping trips:
    • Dates: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
    • Times: 10am and 11am.
    • Numbers are limited to six people per trip.
    • Bookings are essential and residents must wear a mask.

What does this mean for residents?

  • Please only leave your home if it is absolutely necessary.
  • Ask friends and family if they can drop off food and groceries for you.
  • Contact your local pharmacy to arrange medication deliveries.
  • Wear a mask if you leave your home.
  • Practice social distancing.
  • If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 get tested and let your Village Manager know.

We are here to help

If you have any questions or concerns, or need any help, please call your Village Manager directly.

In particular, if you are unclear of the restrictions or need help accessing groceries, medication, your GP or masks, please call your Village Manager.

We are monitoring this closely and will provide another update on Wednesday 23 December, if not before.

Take care and stay safe.
