Sing a song of freedom

poppies in field

In the spirit of the ANZACs and all those who have fought for peace and for freedom, we are sharing a beautiful poem penned by Tom Ashall at Boambee Gardens.

Sing a Song of Freedom

Sing with us a song of freedom
Help us set each hostage free
No more captive frightened children
Peace on earth shall surely be
Men have fought the war for freedom
Since the human race began
Love thy neighbour; raise your voices
Sing the song the pilgrims sang
Peace and love shall be our message
Every man shall be your friend
Every war should be the last one
Could the conflicts really end?
Listen to the brave John Lennon
When he sings, “Give peace a chance.”
Have we made the slightest progress?
Even just a small advance
When the current noise is silenced
Perhaps there will be no more pain
Rejoice in peace; enjoy the moment
Tomorrow, will we fight again?
