After over a year as Village Manager at Lincoln Grove Retirement Village, Dianne Ottery is relishing her role more than ever.
Supported by a professional and dedicated team, she is responsible for managing all aspects of the Marine Avenue community, including ensuring its 120 independent living unit and care apartment residents can enjoy a vibrant, supported retirement.
Dianne says she has thoroughly enjoyed her first year at Lincoln Grove.
What are your favourite things about your role?
Definitely the residents and all my interactions with them. I knew quite a few of them from my previous position and it’s nice to keep in touch. Some I see every day, and some maybe once a month, but it’s always enjoyable when they pop in for a conversation. My job is also very varied, and I never know what’s going to happen from day to day. The team at the village is very close-knitted and we work very well together. We also have amazing views over the whole bay, so it’s very easy to come to work every day!
What changes have happened at Lincoln Grove since you’ve been there?
We’ve managed, between the team and I, to get the garden and grounds up to scratch and we’re on top of that now. When I arrived, there weren’t as many systems in place, and now we’ve got a system of regular statements for residents, so they hopefully have a better idea of what’s going on with the financial side of things.
What are your main aims for the village for the future?
We want to maintain everything we’re doing and make sure everything is being kept on top of. I would also to introduce new things – one of those is a community garden with herbs and things like that. And a lot of other things!
