Care the way it should be

We believe older Australians deserve better, and that increasing care needs shouldn’t come with a loss of choice, independence or purpose. Residents come first at Glengara Care. It’s care the way it should be.

Care on your terms

Our consumer-directed model of care puts choice and control where it should be – with you. Led by experienced nurses, each resident has their own tailored care plan which ensures care and support is delivered on your terms, not ours.

What does this mean? It means you can choose to wake up and have some support with showering at 9am, rather than 7am. It means support for a daily routine at times that suit you, not us. It means building the life you want into your care plan, rather than sacrificing the things you love because they’re no longer convenient.

Life on your terms

It’s easy to limit care to physical or medical needs. While these are fundamental, all of us are whole people—and connection and choice matter just as much.

We give you the freedom to maintain your independence and to make the call on what matters most to you. We take everything into account: your independence and your physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing. For us, it’s about being there with care—however and whenever you need it.

Funding your move into Glengara Care

There are three financial stages for your time at Glengara Care: moving in, living, and leaving.

You make your ingoing contribution before moving into your Glengara Care apartment. This covers the cost of your apartment and establishes your Care Account which includes an initial 200 hours (approximately) of care services.

Your Care Account is managed by Capital Guardians, in your name, and is used to fund your future care needs.

Living Costs at Glengara Care

While living at Glengara Care, you will have two ongoing costs: a recurrent general services fee, and a periodic top up of your Care Account.

The general services fee pays for things like meals, base care services, your care manager and maintaining the village and amenities.

Your Care Account is used to cover your care costs and is a safety net in the event your care needs escalate quickly. Unused funds in your Care Account are fully returned when you leave the village.

Exit costs

When you leave the village, you’ll be refunded your ingoing contribution, less your departure fee and other exit costs.

The departure fee accrues during your first three years living in the Glengara community and is capped at 35% of the ingoing contribution.

From the day you move in, you’ll be certain of the maximum fee you’ll pay based on the amount of time you spend in your care apartment.

Respite Care

If you need a little extra care in the short-term – perhaps to recover from illness, injury or a hospital stay – respite care could be the answer.

At Glengara Care, you can stay in a care apartment for up to two weeks. This gives you the opportunity to recuperate, away from home, chores, and cooking.

By letting us look after you, you can focus on what’s most important– getting better.
