Tea Tree Gardens Retirement Village recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, marking the occasion with a party at the village’s community centre.
The village’s active resident committee pulled out all the stops to ensure the event went off with a bang, and were delighted that local dignitaries joined the celebration.
Village Manager Lucy Mulvany hailed the residents’ efforts in putting together the event, saying that it was a fabulous team effort by all involved.
“The resident committee is very active and all the activities and events they enjoy are organised by residents for residents,” Lucy said.
“We had balloons, lolly bags, fairy bread, and a cake – all with RetireAustralia branding on them.”
“If you could’ve bottled the atmosphere and sold it, you would be a millionaire many times over.”
Long-term resident Margaret Plumb said the sense of community is what she enjoys most about living at Tea Tree Gardens.
“We moved here in March 1988 and haven’t had any regrets whatsoever,” Margaret said.
“Everybody is so friendly and we have wonderful staff.”
It wasn’t only residents and staff who attended the celebration, but also guests of a more official kind.
“We had the local mayor, and federal and state members of parliament giving speeches and congratulating us,” Lucy said.
“The residents really liked listening to what they had to say.”
Lucy said the celebration was a great way of bringing nearly 400 residents of Tea Tree Gardens together, and was another reminder of what she loves most about the village.
“The residents are so active, involved, passionate and enthusiastic,” Lucy said.
“I told them how privileged I feel managing this village, which has such a great community spirit.”
