COVID-19 precautionary measures for Adelaide Retirement Villages

Published: 30 June 2021

The South Australian Government has announced pre-emptive restrictions to prevent outbreaks of the highly contagious Delta variant of COVID-19 like those currently occurring in other parts of Australia.

From midnight tonight, Wednesday 30 June, the following restrictions will apply in Metropolitan, Barossa, Fleurieu Peninsula, Mt Barker and Adelaide Hills areas in South Australia for at least a week:

  • Home gatherings are capped at a maximum at 10 people per household.
  • Masks are highly recommended in indoor public areas and on public transport.
  • Face masks are mandatory in high risk settings such as health care facilities, Residential Aged Care Facilities, allied health, and when providing personal care.
  • Every person should attempt to stay at least 1.5 metres from others when in public.
  • It is recommended that people work from home, unless they are essential workers.
  • People must use QR codes (or manual check in system if not available) to check in when attending relevant locations.

What does this mean for our Adelaide communities?

It’s important that we all do the right thing and maintain our communities as safe havens for our residents and team members.

What is RetireAustralia doing to help protect our communities?

  • Community Centres and amenities will remain open to residents with some limitations on activities. You will be notified directly if an activity you participate in is impacted.
  • Staff will wear masks when indoors in the village.
  • Safe sales appointments will continue with COVIDSafe protocols in place.

What does this mean for residents?

  • We request that residents and visitors wear a mask when in the community centre.
  • We highly recommend that you wear a mask and practise social distancing when on public transport and in indoor public spaces such as shops and supermarkets.
  • Please continue to sign-in and use the QR Code when accessing the community centre.
  • Please request that your visitors follow the signage within your village and check in before coming to your home.
  • Please keep your visitor log up-to-date.
  • If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 get tested and let your Village Manager know.
