Restrictions in Queensland update—3 day lockdown

To protect the people of QLD from the evolving COVID-19 situation, the Qld government announced this morning, a 3 day lockdown from 6pm Tuesday 29 June 2021 will be in place for South East Queensland, Townsville and Palm Island.

The lockdown will include similar restrictions to those imposed in March with people only permitted to leave their home for the following reasons:

  • Essential education and work, although work from home where possible.
  • Health care or support of a vulnerable person.
  • COVID-19 vaccination (unless you have been identified as a close contact) and testing.
  • Essential shopping but within your local area.
  • Exercise in your neighbourhood (local area).

You should stay in your local area wherever possible.

You can only have two visitors to your residence (excluding volunteers and workers).

Additionally, masks must be worn on public transport and in indoor public settings e.g. the supermarket.

What does this mean for our Queensland Communities?

Over the next three days it is important that we all do the right thing and work together to keep yourself, neighbours and loved ones safe.

RetireAustralia will be implementing the following precautionary measures:

  • The community centre and common facilities will be closed and all activities cancelled.
  • Property inspections have been postponed.
  • Essential maintenance and refurbishments will continue with COVIDSafe protocols in place.
  • All employees and essential workers will be required to wear masks.

What does this mean for residents?

  • Please only leave your home if it is absolutely necessary.
  • If you leave your home, wear a mask and practise social distancing.
  • If you do have any essential visitors, please request that they follow the signage within your village and sign-in before coming to your villa.
  • Keep your visitor log up-to-date.
  • If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 get tested and let your Village Manager know.

We are here to help

If you have any questions or concerns or need any help, please call your Village Manager directly.

In particular, if you are unclear of the restrictions or need help accessing groceries, medication, your GP or masks, please call your Village Manager.

We are monitoring this closely and will provide another update on Friday 2 July, as the Queensland government reassesses the situation.

Take care and stay safe.
