RetireAustralia COVID-19 Update: Christmas 2020 precautions

The NSW government has announced moderate changes to restrictions for Greater Sydney, Wollongong and the Central Coast for 24, 25 and 26 December only. From 27 December, the current restrictions will be re-instated.

These changes have a small, but positive impact on visiting our Sydney and Central Coast villages over Christmas.

Update on visiting residents over Christmas

From 24 to 26 December, the following moderate changes apply to visiting our communities in Sydney and on the Central Coast.

Independent Living
- Children are welcome to visit.
- People from the northern part of the Northern Beaches may not
- People from Greater Sydney, the Central Coast and Wollongong may visit.

Care Apartments
- No children under 16 please.
- People from the northern part of the Northern Beaches may not
- People from Greater Sydney, the Central Coast and Wollongong may visit.
- Maximum of two visitors at a time please.
- Visitors to please wear masks when indoors.
- Visits to take place within apartments and not in common areas please.

If you or a family member are over 70 or have a health concern, we suggest you remain cautious and think carefully about what you want to do over the coming days. The last thing anyone wants is to inadvertently put a loved one in a situation where they get COVID-19.

Advice for care apartment residents going out over Christmas

If care apartment residents are going to join family and friends for a Christmas celebration, please consider the following precautionary measures:

Have the celebration at home, rather than at a public venue.
Avoid going out in public as much as possible.
Avoid large gatherings, in particular in public areas.
Limit the number of visitors.
Wear masks where social distancing cannot be maintained.
