Christmas comes early at Murray Gardens fundraiser

Murray Gardens will hold its festive market on Saturday 18th November, with all proceeds going to the Albury-Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre.

Stallholders from inside and outside the village will offer festive items, including knitted and crocheted goods, woodwork, jams, sauces, preserves and much more.
The MC Big Band, an 18-piece collective playing swing, Latin and jazz tunes will perform, and a raffle and sausage sizzle will add to the fun.
Murray Gardens Co-Village Manager Chiq Walsh said residents are working hard to ensure the market is a success.
“Our ever-generous residents have been banding together fantastically to make a very impressive array of items,” she said.
“There’s a big buzz of excitement about the event.”
Miriam Baker is one of a group of residents organising the festivities.
“We have beautiful paintings, baskets full of Christmas goodies, and a knitted Mr. and Mrs. Claus to raffle,” she said.
“We’ll be decorating the community centre, and putting a Christmas tree up.”
Murray Gardens’ gala day sale in June raised $2300 for the Cancer Centre, with new equipment a priority.
“We did very well the last time, when we were expecting 100 people and 200 people turned up,” Miriam said.
“I’m not sure if we’ll make that much this time, but you never know!”
Entry is free to the Murray Gardens Christmas markets, 11am to 3pm on Saturday 18th November, 36 Mountford Crescent, East Albury.
