Mandy Julian is beloved by residents at RetireAustralia’s Carlyle Gardens Retirement Village for her dedicated and caring nature, and last Friday, her wonderful attributes were formally recognised when she was named as 2015’s Queensland Manager of the Year.
The coveted industry award, run by the Retirement Living Council, aims to highlight the expertise and dedication of those working in the retirement industry and had five finalists vying for the honour.
After narrowly missing out on the top prize last year, Mandy says that she’s humbled to now have it in her hands.
“This is such an exciting industry to be in and I appreciate all of my supportive staff and residents.”
“As a village manager, you don’t walk in the door each day and treat it like a job.”
“For our residents, Carlyle Gardens is their home and it’s important to be able to look after them and to make their lifestyle happy and inviting.”
RetireAustralia’s Chief Operating Officer, Matt Row, says that the entire management team is thrilled with Mandy’s achievement.
“Mandy’s enthusiastic and caring attitude sets the tone for a dedicated team of staff and over 500 happy residents at Carlyle Gardens.”
“This award is a wonderful recognition of the energy and time that she devotes to this role, and she’s a very worthy recipient.”
The residents couldn’t agree more.
“I think it’s very well deserved,” says longtime resident Sue Barnes.
“Mandy has worked very hard in the time she’s been here – we’re very pleased.”
Mr Row was also eager to congratulate another RetireAustralia village manager, Wendy Rogers, who manages Brisbane’s Wellington Manor and Cleveland Manor Retirement Villages and was also a finalist for the Queensland award.
Mr Row says, “We’re grateful to have so many exceptional village managers working at RetireAustralia and we’ve seen the impact their dedication has on our residents firsthand.”
More accolades are now on the horizon for Mandy, who will go on to compete against the other regional winners for the National Manager of the Year award at the National Retirement Living Summit in November.
